Losing a pet is losing a family member. Ares Makes is named after our own red cattle dog, so we understand how much a small, personal keepsake can mean. Here are some gentle ideas for remembering a dog or cat, and how we can make them.
Keepsake ideas
- Engraved timber or slate plaque. A name, the dates and a short line such as "Forever by our side", with a paw print or a small portrait.
- Engraved coaster set. A paw print or favourite photo, used every day at home.
- 3D-printed paw print or name sign. Raised lettering in a colour that was theirs, or a silk finish for something a little special.
- Photo relief art. A photo of your pet turned into layered wall art (see our shop).
- Memorial keyring or tag. A small engraved tag with their name that you can carry or hang on a bag.
- Christmas ornament. A named ornament that comes out every year, so they're part of the tree.
What to send us
- Your pet's name and the wording you'd like, exactly as you want it written.
- One or two clear photos if you'd like a portrait or outline engraved. Close-ups in good light work best.
- Any colour or timber preference, and a rough size or where it will sit.
- Your deadline, if there is one.
A few practical tips
- Photos engrave best when the subject is well lit and the background is plain. If your favourite photo is busy, tell us and we'll talk through options.
- Slate gives a soft, grey-on-charcoal look. Timber gives a warm brown. We'll suggest what suits the design.
- We send a digital proof before engraving, so you can check the spelling and dates.
Please note
We make keepsakes and plaques, not urns or memorial products that hold ashes. For those, a pet cremation provider or funeral service is the right place to go. We can, however, make a matching plaque or nameplate for an urn or garden memorial you already have.
